This is the new brand name for the congresses I run across Scotland, and this season will see events at Bridge of Allan, Stranraer, Kirkcaldy, Renfrew & Largs.
The 2018/19 Championship Grand Prix will also be run across all of our congresses offering £100 1st prize for those who score the most points over the season in each of our Championship, U2200, U1800 & U1400 sections.
You can find out about all Championship Chess events at our new website

Hi all,
On behalf of Fiona Petrie, looking for expressions of interest for the World Youth Chess Championships in Halkidiki, Greece from 19th to 31st of October 2018. Age categories are U14, U16 & U18 - Open & Girls. The competition deadline for registration is the 20th of August so we are setting a cut-off for Scottish expressions of interest of 1st of August, which is the same as the cut-off set for World Cadets.
I have already noted 1-2 expressions of interest for this competition already. Anybody interested, please get in touch with me. On collation of all expressions of interest, Fiona and Andy Howie will approve any selection decisions that are made with regard to who the 'invited' places go to.
Information on the tournament is here:

Andy Muir told me today that due to GDPR regulations you cannot pray for someone in a church unless you have their written permission. Apparently praying for them or asking people to pray for others is in breach of privacy regulations as you are indicating their health status (requiring divine intervention)
Apparently if they are dead however then its OK as its public knowledge

The 2017-2018 grading year will finish on June 30.
Thanks to all who supplied data or information this season. Thanks to our programmers Andrew McHarg and Gordon Rattray for website and program support.
The July 1 FIDE import will be incorporated into this season’s data.
Players can view their grading record by logging in to the online grading system. All result crosstables are listed here grouped into event type https://www.chessscotland.com/grading/results-tree/
If players spot any errors or omissions please contact the organiser of that event or email grading(at)chessscotland.com immediately. It is easier to correct errors now than after the new season starts.
The new grading season will be created shortly after the Scottish Championships in Paisley are complete. The Scottish Championship will be processed using new 2018-19 season grades and will be the first event of the new season.
Grand Prix
The 2018 Scottish Championship data will not be used for grading in the current 2017-2018 season. However the results will be incorporated into this season’s Grand Prix calculations. All sections of the Scottish Championships will be included twice: as the final GP event of 2017-18 and the first GP event of 2018-19.
Printed Grading List
The print run of the grading list will be limited to those who have pre-ordered a copy. These can be purchased now via the online membership system - cost £5. https://www.chessscotland.com/membership/join/
There will only be a few copies available after the initial orders are fulfilled.
