  CS magazine Scottish Champs report
Posted by: andybburnett - 11-08-2018, 07:29 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - No Replies

Hi all,

So far I have received absolutely nothing about the Scottish Championship 'main event', and having not been there myself it makes it kind of difficult to report on it!

If anyone fancies writing up a nice piece on it, and others would like to annotate a game they played in it, please let me know asap! Deadline will be the 20th August.

Photos, etc also welcome!

Many thanks,
Andy Burnett

  Chess Scotland fund raising dinner
Posted by: Ianbrownlee - 07-08-2018, 05:47 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

Hi Guys

Chess Scotland will be hosting a fund raising dinner on Friday November 16th at Ralston Golf Club in Paisley. Tickets for a three course set evening meal at priced at £30 per head with a vegetarian option if required. There should also be one or two guest speakers from the Scottish Chess Scene (any volunteers?) as well.

Please contact Ian Brownlee (07899 832770 or admin@chessscotland.com ) for further details. All monies raised will go towards Chess Scotland funds. Please send me any expressions of interest. If this is a success at all, we may replicate this at future events.

A fun night out will be had by all.

  Chessbase analysis
Posted by: amuir - 06-08-2018, 11:34 AM - Forum: Games Analysis - Replies (15)

Does anyone have chessbase problems with Windows 10 ? I could hardly get it to work at the British Championships. It kept on hanging, freezing files, and it couldn't analyse games without putting in obscure symbols. Makes it very hard to play well.

  Olympiad Young and Old

A nice news story there but was surprised that Paul Motwani does not appear in the list of youngest players? I'm sure I remember him telling me about his Olympiad trips when we were a University and pretty sure we were both teenagers at the time (long time ago Sad)

  Glorney Alumini
Posted by: Jim Webster - 22-07-2018, 04:05 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - No Replies

Ireland are in the early stages of putting together an event in 2019 for previous, i.e. former, Glorney & Gilbert players - an ALUMINI Event! This is still in the early stages and they are looking for ideas and interest. They have sent the following for circulation: -

===========================================================
Glorney/Faber/Gilbert/Robinson/Stokes ALUMNI event in 2019

The Glorney Gilbert International 2019 organisers are considering a gathering of Glorney, Faber/Gilbert, Robinson & Stokes ALUMNI (from 1948 - 2018) . The initial idea is a gathering on Sun 21st July 2019 at the GGI 2019 venue in Ireland for some chess and/or a lunch followed by the opening ceremony of the GGI 2019. Other IDEAS as to date, duration, format, etc., welcome. Contact the organisers: juniors@icu.ie or see here for more.

Please spread the word to ALL ALUMNI asking those interested to email or to complete the contact form here.

=============================================================

Should any former player be interested please contact them directly using their links - at this time I don't have enough information to answer any queries.
