  Well another season over!!
Posted by: Glynis Grant - 24-03-2013, 11:10 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (22)

I'd just like to thank Andy, Phil and Gavin for the fantastic job they have done to give us, yet again, an excellent year at SNCL.

Well done to all the teams who were promoted and better luck next year to those who were demoted. To the rest of you I hope you enjoyed your games and are looking forward to next season.

Would you believe I have just completed 16 years as Organiser of SNCL -- you don't even get that for Murder these days ( and there have been a few where I have been tempted over the years!!!!)

Next season will have funny dates because the venue is having a major renovation project so it will be interesting to see the changes (hopefully not in costs to SNCL!!)

Have a lovely summer and I look forward to welcoming you all back in the fall.

GG

  Arkadij Naiditsch Simul and Talk
Posted by: D-Oswald - 20-03-2013, 03:41 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (10)

Sponsored by Quality Chess

Arkadij Naiditsch will be returning to Scotland to do a simultaneous match at the iconic Edinburgh Chess
Club on Saturday the 20th of April at 12pm. The world number 29 will then present a talk to all participants, which is sure to be a masterclass.

Quality Chess have kindly offered to donate books to the event. Quality Chess’s books are always of an excellent standard and we are delighted to have them as prizes for the simultaneous.

Entry fee – £35
Deadline: Friday the 12th of April

Spaces are limited so there is expected to be more interest than places available. If this is the case there will be a public draw “out of the hat” at the Edinburgh Congress (12th - 14th April).

Posted by: Glynis Grant - 20-03-2013, 12:00 AM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (4)

SNCL and the Team Lightning tournament are both on this Sunday, 24th MArch.

The following weekend is Easter so we managed to avoid it.

Also the clocks do not go forward this weekend so you have no excuses for being late!!

  Team Lightning
Posted by: Ken_Stewart - 16-03-2013, 08:47 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (1)

It's now just one week until the Team Lightning to be held after SNCL at Dunfermline on Sunday 24 - entry form on website.
Simplest way to enter is by email to me. I'll get entry fees at the event.
I just need Club (and how many from the club), Organiser and estimate of average strength (for seeding purposes in prelim sections).

Just been to the official site to checkout the candidates games and can not believe how bad the boards look. Anyone know of a better site?
