  Dundee + C.O.O.L Chess + Jaocb's Brilliancy.
Posted by: Geoff Chandler - 28-06-2015, 06:11 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (1)

HI,

Went to Dundee to see if the Discovery was yet sea worthy as I intend to steal it.

I've still never figured out how this place could produce such class players as
Paul Motwani & Colin McNab. Was it really all Nancy Elder - she needs a statue.

The only 2nd hand chess books I picked up was MCO13 (£1.00) and something about
tactics in the KID. (again £1.00). Loads of obscure 60's CD's. so the day out was OK.

anyway....

Coming up for my 200th blog on that site.

Left the Corner after 400, so I'm halfway through.

I note Matthew Turner is disappointed these competitions aren't getting the coverage they deserve, so here we go.

My club mate Lennart Koehn is a bit apprehensive about being Board 1 this year, but looking forward to visiting Ireland.

Stewarton Allegro Open grading - correction
Posted by: Alan Jelfs - 27-06-2015, 05:36 PM - Forum: Ask the Grader - Replies (4)

Hi Dougie,
There is an error (maybe more) in the grading results of the Stewarton Allegro Open.
In the last round, I drew with Rosie Giulian, not Phil.
Lennart Koehn thinks his result against one of the Giulians is wrong too.

So I reckon Rosie has Phil's results and vice versa !
Boards 5 and 7 shouldn't meet in round 1.

Best regards,
Alan

I cant make midweek morning meetings. Why not have a vote at AGM instead ? Discriminates against those working.

Richardson Poll #8 - Timing of Team Line-up
Posted by: George Neave - 22-06-2015, 08:52 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (12)

Since the idea is leading on Poll 7 lets see when is the most popular time. Keep in mind a team could have a 3-4 hour journey ahead of them to reach the match venue.

If the concept is popular a separate poll to offer options on how much in advance will follow.
