Does anyone know what Alan Tate still needs to do to make IM? I note his TP after 7 rounds is just over 2400 and I remember a few years back he had collected a couple of GM norms. Not sure if they have a shelf-life? He must be quite close to an IM title?

Alan Tate was awarded the IM title subject to rating at the FIDE Congress in 2011. Graham Morrison was awarded the IM title subject to rating in 2013. If the players achieve a rating of 2400 at any time (including in the middle of a tournament) the title is automatically awarded.

You can view Scottish norms here http://ratings.fide.com/title_norms.phtm...ountry=SCO

It's one of the links on the FIDE page https://www.chessscotland.com/news-post/...ting-list/

Neither Alan Tate or Graham Morrison are listed on the norm page because norms have  already been submitted and accepted as sufficient to secure the title - it is purely a rating issue to complete qualification.

Norms which have already been registered should not lapse.

Does that mean Neil, Iain and Ian have only one norm each or all 3 (?) required, or..? Neil I'm sure has at least 2!

Cheers,
Andy

Alan must be very close after today's result!

Still coming to terms with the fact that he had the norms 7 years ago!!!

According to the site Alan gains 34 Elo points which would put him on 2392.

Yep, that's right Alan, but the other Alan informs me he has 6 points from the Richardson still to be added Smile

Tremendous result, especially after a brutal draw in the opening rounds.  Well done Alan, and good luck getting to 2400.
