I have received the following from Colin Baxter, son of Raymond Baxter
I am contacting you to let you know that my father, Raymond Baxter, passed away on 11 November at the age of 85. My father was a leading chess player in Scotland in the 1960s, finishing in the top 3 of the Scottish Championship twice and representing Scotland at the Chess Olympliad in Israel in 1964.
His funeral will be held at Warriston Crematorium, Edinburgh at 12 noon this coming Monday (26th November). I'm not sure if you have an online notice board or similar to make your members aware so that any current or (more likely) former players who remember my father can perhaps attend.

Hi all,
Despite some difficulties with airport transport, our 2 representatives Sanjith Madhavan and Ishan Kumar have started very well indeed! Both are without a FIDE rating going into the competition but that is sure to change very soon with the trouble they are causing to highly graded opponents.
Sanjith is in the Open under-12 tournament and has opened with 2 draws - firstly to Jaime Alcon Llosada (Andorra) rated 1715 and then to Matteo Metzdorf (Germany) rated 1865.
Ishan has started impressively as well in the Open under-10 tournament with a loss in Round 1 but then a draw with Juan Esteban Medina (Colombia) rated 1332.
Round 3 was suspended today due to weather conditions.

Once again people have gone home from SNCL without heir belongings.
A chess book.
A packet of cigarettes.
If you can correctly describe these items we will give them back.
A fancy drinks bottle. We left it at the venue. If you are in the area go and get it otherwise hopefully it will be kept until next meeting. After that it will be thrown out.
A black king also went missing in the analysis room. If you accidently took it home, can we have it back please.
Hope you all enjoyed the day.
GG
