I notice that when looking at your games the grading page no longer shows how your grade was calculated. Will this be returning along with best win, worst loss etc?

Thanks Huh

  21st SCT online weekender
Posted by: JMcNicoll - 29-12-2021, 11:49 AM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - No Replies

Takes place from the Sunday to Tuesday this time. Usual events available, we have tweaked a couple of events for different slots.

Enter soon to avoid the late entry fee, apparently we are keeping that a secret this time.

Have a good New Year then come out fighting.

  A.H. Thomson (Polytechnic CC, Glasgow)
Posted by: Alan McGowan - 21-11-2021, 04:31 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - No Replies

A.H. Thomson of Poly played in the Glasgow Congress 1977. Someone with the same name played in the Guernsey Festival, October 1987. Can anyone tell me if this is the same person? His first name might have been Alan.
Thanks

  Tony Miles

Excellent article on Tony Miles below. I can hardly believe it is already 20 years since he died. I used to love his newspaper column and even took up 1...a6 briefly, inspired by his famous win with it over Karpov. At the time, the idea of a British player beating Karpov was simply inconceivable. RIP Tony.
