  Female players in SNCL
Posted by: robin moore - 25-11-2012, 09:45 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (39)

Seeing a I am a nice relaxed non-controversial member of ChessScotland, this might not mean too much. I would love to have a female player in every SNCL team. Everyone get their politcally correct hat on and have a think about it. People like Joy, Ali and Siegrun might be on my side but I am sure that there are others who are not.

Let all ladies fight for a place in the best teams. Anna , Kirsty and Stuthi would be contenders for the top teams. How does that sound? A female in every team.
What could it mean long term?... Competition for female adult and and junior international events. Sounds good to me...

Robin.

  Grading calculator query
Posted by: andyburnett - 24-11-2012, 05:35 PM - Forum: Ask the Grader - Replies (9)

Hi, hopefully someone can explain the following problem to me...

I have downloaded the Grading calculator program and have been entering my results for this season. However, I don't understand some of the adjusted grades being used. Take the following...

Opps Adj Used
1789 1789 1849
1475 1475 1849
1885 1885 1885
2059 2179 2179
2007 2007 2007
1619 1739 1849
2216 2336 2336
1569 1569 1849
2475 2475 2475
1846 1966 1966
2175 2295 2295

...why are the figures in bold 120 points different between actual and adjusted?

Cheers,
Andy Burnett

As the more observant of you will have noticed at Oban, I am again growing a 'tache for Movember, to raise funds for men's cancer.

The growth will also be on display at SNCL tomorrow.

If you would like to make a donation, please go to my "Mome Page" at

A big thanks to Duncan Campbell and his squad of talented helpers for an excellent tournament.
There were some diffiulties presented to them by the entry of my friend who had severe mobility issues but they overcame them in a really sensitive way. So much so my well travelled friend said it was the best tournament he had ever been at.
Thanks to assistance from Arthur Guinness on Saturay my Sunday play was severely impaired but never the less it was a wonderful overall experience.
Cheers guys.
Big Grin
