W.A. Nowosielski

From Scottish Chess Bulletin No. 17, May-September 1965: We report with regret the death of Mr W.A. Nowosielski which occurred suddenly on September 5th. Mr Nowosielski was well known in Edinburgh Chess circles. He was a leading member of the Edinburgh Polish CC and did much to create and maintain its teams in the Edinburgh League. He was a Vice President of the League. He was also a member of the Edinburgh CC, joining the club in 1953, becoming a Council Member in 1959 and the Senior Vice President this year. He won the Club Championship in 1957 and has played regularly in the Richardson Cup team. Mr Nowosielski came to this country withthe Polish Army during the war, married a Scottish lady and remained here to practice his profession of civil engineering. As a member of the staff of Messrs George Wimpey he was responsible for quality control and site investigation in the construction of houses, and other buildings. His death at the early age of 54 will mean a sadly unexpected loss to many chess players in Edinburgh.

Note: he was on the Edinburgh CC teams in the final of the Richardson Cup 1958, 1959 and 1960.
