Richardson Cup 1958-1959

Main Tournament

On 25 January 1958, the SCA decide to make SCA individual membership compulsory for players in teams in their tournaments, effective with the 1958-59 season. The Richardson Cup is drawn as normal but reverts to a pre-set draw with the seeded teams avoiding each other in the second round, However most teams decline to participate due to the compulsory membership rule. The SCA meet on 21 March 1959 and decide to proceed as best they can with this year's Richardson. By the following season the rule is rescinded.

Edinburgh CC fight their way through the shambles to win the trophy on 6 June. There is no relegation tournament and no Spens Cup.
