Fair City Chess Challenge

Dewars Conference Centre, Perth
Sunday, 1 April 2007
John and Lynsey Shovlin

Although the number of entries was down from last year the event had an overall attendance of 125. We once again enjoyed the hospitality and surroundings of Dewars Conference Centre, Perth which was the perfect venue with the participants being able to enjoy the sunshine which shone down on the Fair City at the opposing park and picnic area.

As always there were some traditional upsets during the tournament and the Knights still waits to be won by an adult as the juniors continue demonstrate they're skills and ability with youth once again defeating experience!

Many thanks go to all the supporters and helpers at the Fair City which, without they're continued assistance, the event would most certainly not run so smoothly. The Fair City team is particularly grateful to our superb arbiters from the event; Stephen O'Donnell (Pawns), Norrie and Maureen Mathie and Donna Officer (Knights), Jim Anderson (Rooks) and Donald Wilson (Kings & Queens).
