Prize-winners in the Challengers (42 entries): 1st = Darren Dick (Grangemouth) 4½/5 1st = Neil Irving (Kinross) 4½/5 3rd = Bruce Harrold (Stonehaven) 4/5 3rd = Michael Ash (Penrith) 4/5 Grading Prize (u1625) = John Smith (Edinburgh) & Anthony Roberts (Lasswade) 3½/5 Grading Prize (u1450) = Iain Morris (Bon Accord), Lloyd Hughes (Edinburgh) & Christopher Marciano (Bon Accord) 2½/5.

Keith Ruxton was a worthy winner of the Championship on the basis of three good wins in the opening rounds, though he had to work hard to draw in rounds 4 and 5, against Willie Hulme and Neil Farrell respectively.
