17 year old David Eynon and 15 year old David Sime are the joint winners of the 1999 Scottish Boys Championship with 4 out of 5. Their success came in a strong tournament held in Glasgow last weekend. The Edinburgh due edged out James Parkin (Dingwall) by half a point, with Gordon Rigg (Glasgow), Joe Redpath (Edinburgh) and Graeme Kafka (West Kilbride) on 3. The tournament combined both the Scottish Boys and Girls championship, and 16 year old Elaine Rutherford (Edinburgh) won the girls title.

The trophies and prizes were presented by the 1999 Scottish Champion and National Youth Coach, IM John Shaw at the Scottish Chess Association organised event. The final placings in the event [which suffered from an unfortunate bye in such a small event] were: David Eynon and David Sime 4/5, James Parkin 3½, Gordon Rigg, Joe Redpath and Graeme Kafka 3, Andrew Walkingshaw, Daniel McGowan, Elaine Rutherford 2½, Peter Alexander and David Logue 2, Kirsty Stevenson and Graham McKay1½.

Here is the game between the joint Boys champions, with notes by David Sime.
