Should this count as Scots abroad? Discuss. No, on second thoughts better not.

Anyway, there are six Scots playing in the FIDE Open - Clement Sreeves, Neil Berry, Paul Roberts, Andrew Green, Mike Groves and Douglas McKerracher. I had intended to go myself but family issues prevented me.

Douglas had a great result in round 1, beating Estonian IM Kalle Kirk (2435) in what was the biggest upset of the first round. Neil and Andrew are also on 1/1.

Further Information:

GM Jonathan Rowson will be playing in the 'Super 16' section. In his qualifying pool are Vladimir Kramnik, Peter Svidler, and Matthew Sadler so he will have his work cut out.

There are a few other Scots playing in the 'other' tournaments incluing Elaine Bamber in the Weekender A.
