Glasgow Congress
#1
Is Glasgow in May supposed to be missing from the CS calendar or is it a glitch? It was definetly there previously. Does anyone have the date for it so can put in my calendar, cheers.

Plenty of allegro chess on that weekend though.

The Ayrshire Allegro will take place at the Mercure Hotel in Ayr on the Sunday, May 4th. Entry forms and further details will be available soon.

Hamilton Chess Club with the support of SJC have organised an allegro for Saturday 3rd of May. The Hamilton Allegro takes place at the St Margarets Church Hall in Aidrie. Contact Michael Hanley at Hamilton Chess club for an entry form and further details on this event.

Strictly speaking the 3rd May event at Airdrie is a Hamilton club event. I will be present as a Hamilton club member.

I didn't have to say that but it helps entries to keep bumping news to the top of the notice board. ^#(^

Entry from for May 3rd went into Michael Hanley's distribution system late yesterday and should be appearing on the CS notice board shortly.

It will be interesting to see how many take part in both events - overall that is less time input than playing all 5 rounds of the Glasgow Congress.

David - Since your event at Ayr is the day after The Airdrie event can you make it easy for players at Airdrie to make an impulse decision after play finishes on the 3rd to move on to play Ayr on the 4th.
I could be in that category myself :ymdaydream: - simply won't know how much desire I have to play Sunday until I finish on Saturday.

Mr Moderator - these smarticons are just too hypnotic, you may have to remove them

Phil, I (and many others) received an email with an entry form that said the following:

Quote:Hi to all, as the Glasgow congress is cancelled and local players would be expecting an event that weekend, Hamilton Chess Club with the support of SJC decided to organise an allegro for Saturday 5th May...

Hence the confusion, so this is a Hamilton Chess Club run event. B-)

I'll definitely be at the Star Wars day event as I am helping organise things. I think all players should dress as a Star Wars character to play the allegro. What do you reckon? :-?

Oops bad proof reading error within the e mail.

Saturday the 3rd of May intended - as given on the entry form.

Lesser error is ... well spotted David .............arbiters will from the SJC panel of arbiters not all of whom are members of Hamilton club.

Yes, all players should have to dress up as Imperial Stormtroopers - now that would make an interesting sight @-)
