Yes2Chess

Had the following emailed to me:

Calling all children aged 7-11

The Yes2Chess tournament is the perfect event for your child, grandchild, niece or nephew and their school.

Barclaycard in partnership with the charity Chess in Schools and Communities are bringing children together from around the world for an exciting challenge. It’s part of our commitment to help improve children’s social and academic development. And the grand final will be hosted at Barclaycard British Summer Time event in Hyde Park this July.

Getting involved is easy.
Just follow our simple steps:

Share this email with a teacher at their school

Ask them to fill out the registration form online to register their team of five by 28 March

Teachers can visit the Yes2Chess website for full details on how their school can get involved.

I had it too and it seem to have come to me purely as a Barclay(card) customer. If so, that is a huge distribution and it is hard to see how they could cope with a huge influx of entries and still get down to Final in the Summer

The ECF Forum has a Yes2Chess thread. Some of the difficulties Andrew Martin is having setting up the school based computers to operate Yes2Chess may be of interest. The link is :- http://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6196
