South Ayrshire Congress - January 24 to 26 2014
#1
The entry form for the South Ayrshire Congress taking place from the 24th to the 26th of January, 2014 is now available online via the Chess Scotland calendar page.

The event features an incremental time control and a cross-sectional event for seniors, among other things. The congress will be held during the weekend of Burns Night, which is celebrated by Scots the world over. South Ayrshire is the birthplace of the national poet.

Anyone considering entering the congress but still to book accommodation might like to have a look at <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.trivago.co.uk">www.trivago.co.uk</a><!-- w -->. The site compares several hotel booking sites and lists any special deals. Prices start at £25 per night for a room.

The Mercure can currently be booked for £35.50 per night for a single room only (no breakfast) through the hotels own website or through trivago.

With less than a week to go until the start of the tournament I have added individual pages for each section to the congress website. If players could check they're in right section and I've recorded a bye that would be great. Any mistake please let me know.

Open - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/south-ayrshire/open.html">http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/sout ... /open.html</a><!-- m -->

Major - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/south-ayrshire/major.html">http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/sout ... major.html</a><!-- m -->

Minor - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/south-ayrshire/minor.html">http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/sout ... minor.html</a><!-- m -->

Junior Saturday - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/south-ayrshire/junior-saturday.html">http://ayrshirechesscongress.co.uk/sout ... urday.html</a><!-- m -->

Single rooms in the area can be booked for as little as £20 per night through Trivago. Room only at the Mercure can also be booked via Trivago at £36.

Looks a very healthy entry list, have you ever wondered what the response would
be if it was held at a time when the Ayrshire weather was a tad better?

There is another congress (incorporating the West of Scotland championship) in the same venue at the end of May.
