Arkadij Naiditsch Simul and Talk
#1
Sponsored by Quality Chess

Arkadij Naiditsch will be returning to Scotland to do a simultaneous match at the iconic Edinburgh Chess
Club on Saturday the 20th of April at 12pm. The world number 29 will then present a talk to all participants, which is sure to be a masterclass.

Quality Chess have kindly offered to donate books to the event. Quality Chess’s books are always of an excellent standard and we are delighted to have them as prizes for the simultaneous.

Entry fee – £35
Deadline: Friday the 12th of April

Spaces are limited so there is expected to be more interest than places available. If this is the case there will be a public draw “out of the hat” at the Edinburgh Congress (12th - 14th April).

Entry fee has now been reduced to £25.

A bargain price to play someone of Naiditsch's caliber, and a great opportunity to find out how a 2700 thinks in his talk (which follows the simul).

David

Have you thought if raffling off a couple of spaces at Edinburgh.next week?

This really is an amazing opportunity to play, and attend a talk given by, a 2700 strength player. Arkadij speaks perfect English so the masterclass following the Simul will be a great lesson... all this for £25 is great value!

I think it'll be a real shame if more players don't take advantage of the opportunity of such a lesson as David has done brilliant to pull this off!

Thanks Jonny!

Yesterday I received books that were very kindly donated by Quality Chess (www.qualitychess.co.uk). These brand new and high quality books will be used as prizes for the event. Quality Chess have been very generous in the number of books that they have donated, meaning that over a third of participants will receive a book! Thanks again to Quality Chess!

The event is a great opportunity to play one of the world's best players, a chance to learn from a celebrity in the chess world during his talk and a good chance of winning one of Quality Chess's high quality and new publications.

There are still spaces available for those interested...

Many thanks to all those who supported the event, and thanks to Quality Chess for their kind sponsorship.

The event was very enjoyable and Arkadij certainly found it tough going as participants raised their game for the challenge. In the end Arkadij won 16, drew 2 and lost 3.

Below is a list of positive results for the simul participants:

Calum MacQueen - Draw
Murad Abdulla - Draw
Clement Sreeves - Win
Hugh Brechin - Win
David Oswald - Win

Arkadij was very impressed with the overall standard and in particular young Murad who was outplaying the German number 1, until a small slip let the him back in the game.
