Robin and Andy B - thanks - any cost savings welcomed. This would give the possibility to expand funding elsewhere. I would like to give money for Club Cup, training, norm-chasing etc but hands tied.
I encourage you both to go to the 2015 AGM anyway armed with specific constructive proposals for chess improvements.

Why wait until the 2015 AGM?

I went to Gleneagles for the Ryder Cup on Sunday and we can learn a heck of a lot from Paul McGinley about how to captain a successful team and hopefully these points can be raised in the constitution process.

He had 5 vice-captains, the next captain will be selected by 5 people including 3 ex-captains. There were 3 days of team bonding and specialist training by Alex Ferguson. All the players gave everything for the team. He spent 2 years preparing meticulously for the event.
