What did we think of JR's game today???

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the position was still theory a move or 2 before his opponent blundered a piece (seriously blundered - he just left a knight en prise). Jonathan plays those Saemisch Variation positions really well; it's been his main weapon against the KID for a long time.

Is Carlsen the greatest player ever... ?

No. Gazza still the man to beat. Maybe when Magnus hits 2900 he's got a shout.

The classic is always great, love when the super GMs hit the commentary room afterwards. If there's one thing that'll make you feel bad about your own chess is watching Vlad Kramnik analyse

The line he sees for fun after 8 minutes is absolutely ridiculous.

Looking good for the Scots down there! Nice to see Rowson back in tournament action.

Wow! And to think that Kramnik has actually lost some games in the past. What would you have to do to beat him? ;|

;P Carlsen is the best though.

Agreed. When Carlsen has a massive ratings lead and is winning tournaments with the sort of regularity Kasparov managed in his prime we'll talk. (A world championship win wouldn't hurt either...)

That analysis video is utterly depressing, by the way.

Re: London Chess Classic - Hugh Brechin - 04-12-2012

On another note, I'd managed to completely miss that McShane is now the British number 1. That's interesting. Though it presumably won't last if Mickey manages to keep up a TPR of 3410.

Re: London Chess Classic - Andy Howie - 04-12-2012

Not now. Mickey hass overtaken him again

Re: London Chess Classic - Hugh Brechin - 04-12-2012

I was going by the December 2012 list.
