PARTICIPATION
The European Individual Chess Championship is open to all players representing Chess Federations, which comprise the European Chess Union (FIDE zones 1.1 to 1.10), regardless of their title or rating. There is also no limit of the number of participants per federation; however applications have to be sent by the national federations only.

Good luck to the Scotland squad of Murad Abdulla, Lennart Koehn, Declan Shafi, Euan Gray and Anna Milton who are taking part in the U16 Olympiad in Hungary. I make it 54 teams from 38 countries with Scotland seeded 47th.

Play starts on Saturday and team captain Calum MacQuinn (!) will be known as the Mighty Quinn if we come back with the trophy.

The organisers do a first rate job, but the number of adult entries seems to be falling - in November we had a 6 player all play all !

Any adults/strong juniors why not come along and support this tournament ?

Check the tournament calendar regularly - a number of these events open to adults have been organised recently.

Good luck to all our kids who are taking part in the Liverpool Quadrangular this weekend.

Also I believe that we are sending a team to the under-16 Olympiad in Hungary from 12th December? Who has been selected for that?
