A 7 round event this time so make sure you are aware before you enter, the surprise on Friday night or Saturday morning may not be good.
We have another 4 places available as of 10:30 a.m. on the 23nd.
These are on a first come basis, we will not be telling anyone before the places open.
Are you sure you entered the right event? Check at the pairings sites and make sure you are in the one you want, not necessarily the one you entered.
I believe we will utilise 24 live boards during the event, so lots to look at if you are not playing. Probably broadcast on LiChess, link to follow sometime.
pairings and results are here , for Chess Results and here for Vega Results.

I hope these players can form teams for next season's Glasgow Schools Team Primary Championships.
Only Knightswood have entered this year. Likely to be declared winners by default. Be nice to have a trophy too for the tournament.

Greetings – we are back.
The 2024 Congress (20th Anniversary) will take place 11-13 October at the Chaplaincy Centre, University of Dundee. Full details are now on our website – dundeecongress.co.uk
Some notable points:
The Congress Director will be Ray Noble, email
We are repeating the format of last year with identical 1st – 3rd place prizes across the tournaments and the same entry fee. Numbers were well down last year so, unfortunately, we have to increase entry fees to £30 for all tournaments. We still have the lowest entry fees and highest prize funds of all the Scottish weekend congresses.
The Open tournament will return as ‘Premier’ with a lower grading limit of 1700.
We will not be running a snack bar but tea/coffee will be available, payment by use of an honesty box. Iced water (free) will be available in the playing areas for the competitors.
We will have some financial support from three local businesses – Chamber Practice, Stop Go Driving and Griffen Design: our thanks and appreciation go to them. Contact details are on our website ‘Sponsors’ page.

Sunday 21st, yes this Sunday is last round of SNCL for this season. PLEASE remember to bring all trophies and the Giant Killer shield.
Any matters for the AGM must be lodged with me before the last round begins. At present we will be discussing Fees for next year, format of the event and dates for next season.
Personally I am happy with the nine round FIDE event but the extra day and increase in Scottish grading fees plus expense of FIDE grading fees means I have to ask for a rise in team entry fee. It has stood at £100 for many years now but we are now seriously eating into our funds. Where else can your club get forty five games at just over two pounds a game?
Look forward to seeing you all -- dogs (Millie, Murphy and Bailey) will be at their Auntie's but may be persuaded to make an appearance in the afternoon
