Richardson Cup 2000-2001

Main Tournament

Finals report

Holders Polytechnic CC wrapped up their third successive win in the Richardson final drubbing Bon Accord in an immensely one-sided contest by the record margin of 7½:½. Polytechnic join Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Paisley to become the fifth team to win three in a row. Surprise of the tournament was the elimination of Wandering Dragons by Bon Accord in the semi-final. A further shock was the defeat of a strong Cathcart side by Inverness in the relegation playoffs. Ardrossan return to the Spens after 12 years in the Richardson.

In a move to reduce the number of clubs in the Richardson, there is no promotion from the Spens Cup this season and the 2001-2 tournament will have 14 teams.
