Chess Scotland is starting a fundraising exercise to buy some new sensory boards for use in tournaments. All sections, from Minor to Open, will get the use of these boards. Discussion on the topic can be found here.

The SJCAET Educational Trust supports young Scottish players, and is a tax-efficient medium for donations to aid the development of Junior Chess. For more details please visit

World Senior Individual Championships , Acqui Terme, 06/11-19/11

March 9th, 2017

Registration for this event is now open and there is a very detailed pdf covering registration, entry, schedule, etc available here

For those who want a specific hotel I would advise entering as soon as possible as these events are always heavily subscribed.

CS President Jim Webster has also pointed out that it is an 11-round event with one rest day and that registration will take place on both ‘arrival date’ 6th November and the morning of the first round 7th November until 12 noon.

CS will endeavour to help as usual with entry fee transfers, etc. The closing date for entries is September 30th.

I will also be emailing this information to the regular CS seniors mailing list. If you would like to be included in this mailing list please contact me on international (at) or abburnett (at)

Kind regards,

Andy Burnett

(CS International Director)
