A good day in Hungary. Nice to get some good points on the scoreboard after facing a very strong team in the shape of Uzbekistan ( now 6th seeded 21st) in the first round.
Outgraded on all boards against a Hungarian team this morning, a 2-2 draw is a decent result. 4-0 for us v Hong Kong this afternoon. 4-0 against anyone at this level is a great result but we will have much tougher opponents starting tomorrow with Canada 2.
The most important aspect I feel is that every member of the squad is on the scoreboard. Nerves are calmed, morale is boosted.
I was hoping that our zero fide rated smiling assassin from Castlehill chess club could prove to be a horrible surprise for some opponents. He is going along just fine.
