Alex McFarlane has clarified the minimum game requirements for a new FIDE rating.
"On the players who do not have FIDE ratings, those who had a partial before July will still need 9 games to get a rating but anyone totally new needs only 5.
I don't understand the logic which means that someone with a three game partial needs another 6 games for a rating!!"
