3 more clarifications required - Stuart McKinney - 02-02-2018

Your thoughts on the following please:

1. When making moves at the board should you be seated or is it permissible to stand?

2. Recording moves and your pen runs dry. What should happen?

3. After reaching the first time control is there a minimum amount of moves you need to make in the quick play finish or can you just sit until you have less than two minutes left and claim a draw?

Thank you.

If the opponent does not find it distracting then it is OK.  If the opponent complains then arbiter must decide.  There may be a medical reason for the player standing.

2. Recording moves and your pen runs dry. What should happen?
Write in blood or borrow another pen.

3. After reaching the first time control is there a minimum amount of moves you need to make in the quick play finish or can you just sit until you have less than two minutes left and claim a draw?
You can just sit but you will lose.  Basically you must play enough moves to allow your opponent the chance to fail.
Anything less than 1 move per minute is insufficient, even that number may not be enough.
