World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad 21. – 30. July 2016, Poprad – Tatry, Slovakia

The 2016 World Youth Under 16 Chess Olympiad takes place in Poprad – Tatry, Slovakia at the end of July in the Aréna Poprad. The tournament is a nine round, swiss system, team event over four boards with a time control of 90 minutes for the whole game with 30 second increments.

2016 will see Scotland participate in this high-calibre event for the third time in five years. Once again we have sought to field a strong team of our top under 16 players to represent the country.

The 2016 Scotland squad for the Under 16 Olympiad is:

Murad Abdulla – Bon Accord, Aberdeen
Declan Shafi – Castlehill, Dundee
Euan Gray – Bon Accord, Aberdeen
Monica Espinosa Cancino – Girvan
Ben Volland – Dunfermline and Castlehill, Dundee

The Scotland Coach for this event will be GM Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant.
