World & European Youth Championships 2019
Please note the following details so far for World & European Youth & Cadets Championships in 2019:
European Youth Chess Championships U8-U18 (Bratislava, Slovakia)
1st to 12th of August 2019
World Cadet Chess Championships U8-U12 (Weifang, China)
18th to 31st of August 2019
World Youth Chess Championships U14-U18 (Nagpur, India)
1st to 13th of October 2019
These 3 individual championships offer one 'invited' place in each competition category per federation. If invited, accommodation & board is free for the junior, but all other expenses would still need to be covered. Chess Scotland selection would be needed to qualify for the invited spots of any of the above events - please get in touch with me (ruairidh.mckay@yahoo.co.uk) or Fiona Petrie to signal interest. I imagine there will not be too much interest in the World events which are further away this year but I have put them up anyway.
World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad 2019 (Turkey)
Scotland last sent a team to this tournament in 2016. Dates for this next year are not confirmed as yet but this is likely to be in late November/early December. This is another tournament in which accommodation & board is covered for 1 team of participants per federation. If you are interested in selection for a potential Scotland team for this event, please get in touch to be considered.
There are a whole host of other FIDE tournaments which can be viewed here
If any of our Scottish coaches are interested in helping at FIDE tournaments in 2019 (particularly if you are FIDE trained), please do get in touch.
