New Dedicated Server
Chess Scotland is pleased to announce the transfer of our website to a new dedicated server. The transition was a fairly seamless process, which was completed late last night with a final DNS switchover. A few issues cropped up, but most of these have now been resolved. However, in some news articles before today’s date there may be some problems with any pictures that were inserted when they were created. This is something that I hope to iron out over the next week.
This new server gives us dedicated resources, paving the way to smoothly host the Commonwealth Championship later in the year. In addition, we have some new developments in the planning stages. These plans aim to make the Chess Scotland website more Tablet/Smartphone friendly, and provide a platform so that maintenance of the website can be more easily delegated and managed. So – for example – we could have an area of the website specifically for junior Chess, managed by the Junior organisers, seamlessly combined with the main content of the rest of the website. As part of this, we intend to create a grading book app for both Android and IPhone, which will make it easy to quickly search for player numbers and grades.
I welcome any ideas for future developments as well as any other comments regarding the above. Please email me directly: webmaster@chessscotland.com
