Jonathan Rowson and Cherie Booth Awards
Chess Scotland would like to announce the winners of the Jonathan Rowson and Cherie Booth Awards.
Euan Gray
Euan has had a tremendous season, starting at 937 and improving to 1434.
He started the year playing in Junior Events in the North East before stepping up to adult
competitions and quickly finding his feet. A second place in Lothian’s Minor, behind the also talented Leo Sani, was followed up by an outright first in Dundee Minor.
He came second in a very strong Primary Individual as well as a very strong showing of 4.5/6 in the Stokes cup.
Caitlin Reid
Caitlin had some fantastic results last season, no more so than a win over her Dad!
She made the step from junior tournaments to adult after an impressive 5/5 at Edinburgh LCS. She performed admirably in the Scottish Girl’s championships, scoring 4/6.
Her grading rise was particularly impressive, from 730 to 871, a trend which has continued to this season jumping over the 1400 mark.
Caitlin has been active in Glasgow League divisions 2,3,4 and she scored a good win vs a player rated 1341 in the Paisley club championships, over 600 points higher rated and represented Scotland in both the Euro Youth and as board 1 in the Faber.
Congratulations to both players
