Hugh Flockhart

Chess Scotland regrets to announce the passing of a former director, Hugh Flockhart on Friday 8th May, 2020.

Hugh was in his own words,  a “Director without portfolio”, and created the Chess Scotland Grand Prix for Adults to complement the Grand Prix for Junior players.  Hugh was very active with Chess Edinburgh and part of the team who brought the highly successful 2003 British Championships to Edinburgh.  As an organiser, arbiter and player, Hugh was known to many and his quiet, friendly personality made him many friends in the chess world.
