Grading Update 2021

August 16 2021:

The new 2022 grading season has now been uploaded and new data processed. Latest results: As yet there are no over the board results from Scotland but there were a couple of OTB events from outside the country in the August FIDE update.  While covid restrictions have eased it is unlikely that we immediately return to a normal complement of league, club and congress play. We will continue to update online events through the allegro system this season.

A 2021-2022 CS grading list has been created which can be downloaded here.

July 15 2021:

Please note we are experiencing some technical problems on the season changeover to 2022. The online grading system will be updated as soon as possible.

The 2021 season ended on June 30. There were only two players recorded any results in the standardplay system, both in events held outside Scotland. A number of online events were processed through the allegro system. 675 players recorded at least one result with one very keen player recording 250. The majority of online participants were juniors and the processing of online data has allowed the allegro ratings to reflect improvement. However with no standard results these ratings have remained unchanged. We are considering possible calculation adjustments to compensate opponents.

It remains to be seen if easing of covid restrictions means a return to "live" OTB play. Perhaps one day or one evening allegros will be a more attractive format than traditional 3 day w/e events.

Work on a grading and website update is currently underway - news on progress will be updated when available.

Other than the online allegro data there has only been two sets of over the board data processed for grading since the new season started on July 1 - both from a CS member in Sweden.

Online data: A number of online events have been processed through the allegro system and can be viewed within a player's grading record or via the 2021 results list. The current health crisis has prompted this change in policy to include online data within the grading system. No online data will be used in main list grades. The situation is under continued CS Board discussion and review. There will be further announcements with regard to grading and offshoots such as the Grand Prix.
