European Individual Championship 2012
Alan Tate represents Scotland in the European Individual Championships in Bulgaria March 19-April 1, 2012.
Preview: Bulgarian Chess Federation on behalf of European Chess Union is pleased to invite member Federations of European Chess Union to the European Individual Chess Championship 2012 to be held at Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 19th March to 01st April, 2012.
Plovdiv is the second biggest city in Bulgaria. It is situated at the central south part of Bulgaria in the vast valley of the Maritsa River. The city has ancient history dating back to 8000 B.C. There are many remains from antiquity - Plovdiv is among the few cities with two ancient theatres; remains of the medieval walls and towers, Ottoman baths and mosques, a well-preserved old quarter from the National Revival period with beautiful houses, churches and narrow paved streets. There are numerous museums, art galleries and cultural institutions have won the fame of the city as the Cultural Capital of Bulgaria.
Bulgaria has a rich tradition of organizing many other competitions like the European Individual Chess Championship Plovdiv 2008, Candidates match at Sofia 2009, World Chess Championship Sofia 2010, European Club Cup Plovdiv 2010, Euroepan Youth Chess Championship Albena 2011.
