Delancey UK Chess Challenge – Northern Gigafinal Results

 

A big well done to the boys and girls from Scotland who took part in the gigafinal stage of the UK Chess Challenge, held in Manchester.

These are the Saturday results and these the Sunday results

Outstanding achievements across various sections were:-

Dietah Connolly Sams, Flora Stevensons, Edinburgh - Plate winner

James Hartman, Nether Currie, Currie - 2nd=

Ben Volland, Muckhart - Plate winner

Siddharth Berera, South Morningside, Edinburgh - Plate winner

Robert Pirrie, South Morningside, Edinburgh - Plate winner

John Morrison, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh - 3rd=

Grace Thompson, Rockfield, Oban - 3rd=

Declan Shafi, St Andrews School, Dundee - 1st, Ultimo

Tom Laing, Prestwick Academy, Ayrshire - Plate winner

Leonardo Sani, Madras College, St Andrews - 1st, Ultimo

Colin Howie, Mearns Castle, Newton Mearns - 3rd=

Leston D'Costa, Aberdeen Grammar - Plate winner

Saumya Maheshwari, George Heriot's, Edinburgh - Plate winner

There were a number of other really encouraging results which promise well for the future. For the players who are not amongst the above prizewinners, 'keep going you were up against tough opposition'.  The big Scottish contingent is very encouraging with so many families supporting their children's interest in chess.
