Covid-19

Chess Scotland has closed for the season already in most areas of the country. The government has indicated they don’t see any relaxation in restrictions before the summer.

127th Scottish Championships and International Open

The Chess Scotland Management Board regrets to announce that the 127th Scottish Chess Championships scheduled to be held at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh in July, has been cancelled at this time.

This is direct in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

  • Our venue, the Royal Botanic Garden, is closed until further notice
  • Entry form no longer available and no entries are being accepted.
  • All entry fees will be refunded

PVG

With Chess Scotland virtually closed down and the government advice that unnecessary journeys should not be undertaken, Social Distancing etc. – the CS PVG Signatories have decided not to process any PVG Scheme Record applications for the foreseeable future.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause

Hamish Glen, Steve Mannion Snr, Alastair Dawson.

Grading

The end of the grading year will be June 30, 2020 as normal. New and corrected data will continue to be processed through the system until that date, but will switch to a fortnightly update at the moment.

The calendar will be updated with cancel/postpone tags when organisers indicate their intentions.
