37th Team Lightning

Eighteen teams took part in the 2012 Scottish Team Lightning Championship at Dunfermline on Sunday 25 March. The event was again held after the conclusion of the SNCL at the Dunfermline venue. There was again an increased entry (though the number of last minute entries made it difficult to organise) and an interesting competition with a number of strong teams in contention. Hamilton were once again winners; they were again defeated in their match against the second-placed team but by scoring more heavily against the other opposition scored the most game points. The Edinburgh University team ran Hamilton very close and finished a clear second. Dundee once again came third.
For the winners Joe Redpath and Steven Tweedie had 9½/12,  while Pat Coffey and Andrew Muir had 10½. For Edinburgh University, Gabriel Pelesch had 9½, Marcos Capuzzo had 8½, Boris Mitrovic had 10 and Adam Bremner had 8½.
Final Section 2 was won by Giffnock with 16½ followed by Dunfermline A with 13. Final Section 3 was very closely-fought double-round event won by Dumfries with 14½ ahead of East Kilbride with 13½.
