Wester Hailes Junior Congress

On the 19th of November nearly 100 children came to play chess at the Wester Hailes Education Centre in Edinburgh. There were players from several parts of Scotland as well as the local Lothian primary and secondary schools. There were three sections, Premier (Primary and Secondary with grades over 500), Stars-Barred (Primary and Secondary with a grade under 500 and ungraded) and an open P5 & Under.


1) Premier
1st- Callum Vipond (South Morningside) 5/5 £30, shield and trophy
2nd (on tiebreak)- Jonny Scott (James Gillespies PS) 4/5 £20 and trophy
3rd- Rhian Hughes (South Morningside) 4/5 £10 and trophy

Primary Awards within the Premier (outwith first three)
1st- Robert Childs (Hamilton) 3.5/5 £15, shield and trophy
2nd- Charlotte Childs (Hamilton) 3/5 £10 and trophy

2) Stars-Barred
1st- (on tiebreak) Sarat Roy (Glenrothes) 4.5/5 £20, shield and trophy
2nd- Adam Sahnnon (Kinross) 4.5/5 £15 and trophy
3rd- (on tiebreak) Calum McGillvary (Tiger Cubs) 4/5 £10 and trophy
