36th Scottish Team Lightning Championship

Dunfermline
March 27, 2011

by Ken Stewart

Sixteen teams took part in the 2011 Scottish Team Lightning Championship at Dunfermline on Sunday 27 March. The event had been postponed by severe weather from earlier in the winter and saw a new venue, being held after the conclusion of the SNCL at the Dunfermline venue. This change produced an increased entry and an interesting competition with the outcome uncertain until the last round. Hamilton were once again winners; they were defeated in individual matches against the second and third placed teams but by whitewashing the remaining opposition scored the most game points. The Edinburgh University team ran Hamilton very close and finished a clear second. Dundee & Victoria lost no matches but did not score heavily enough to come above third, with their second team following them.

For the winners Joe Redpath had 9/11, Steven Tweedie 10, Pat Coffey had a perfect 11and Andrew Muir had 9. For Edinburgh University , Adam Bremner had 8 and Boris Mitrovic, Pavlos Bozinakis and Kaushal Khandar all had 9. For Dundee & Victoria, Peter Constantinou had 8½, David Findlay 8, Chaski 7 and Ed Spencer 10.

Final Section 2 was won by Kilmarnock with 21½ followed by Dumfries 18, East Kilbride 17, Bank of Scotland 16, Bon Accord 13, Ayr 10½, Irvine 10 and Extras 6.
