SCA Team Lightning -Grangemouth - December 14, 1997


Shettleston Chess Club are Scottish Team Lightning champions after yet another convincing victory in which they finished well ahead of their nearest rivals. This maintains the club's remarkable dominance at this form of chess. Shettleston have now won the title in fourteen of the last nineteen years.

Castlehead of Paisley finished a clear second with Wandering Dragons of Edinburgh third.

For the winners Douglas Bryson scored 11½/13 on top board and Andrew Muir had 12/13 on board two. Graeme Nolan and Jim Doyle both scored 11. For the runners-up, Peter Jamieson had 13/14, the best percentage score.

22 teams, four more than last year, competed in the tournament supported by Batsford Publishers and Chess Suppliers (Scotland).
