Largs is an attractive holiday resort town on the Firth of Clyde set amid fine coastal scenery. It was the site of a famous battle (1263) with the Vikings and there is a commemorative Vikingar exhibition and various historic sites. There are numerous leisure facilities, nearby country parks, the Nardini ice cream parlour, the ferry terminal to the Island of Cumbrae and various other family attractions. Largs was Scotland's 'top tourism town' in 1995.
