Ali Roy and Amy Officer participated in the BWCA National Girls' Championships and Women's Rapidplay which took place at the Elmbank Hotel in York from 10 - 11 February.

Ali played in the combined U/12 and U/14 Section and finished in 1st place with 4.5 points out of 6.  This resulted in her being awarded with the BWCA U/12 National title and a trophy.  Her event was played over two days and Ali played very well, without losing a game to clinch the title.

Amy played in the BWCA Women's Rapidplay which incorporated the U/16 and U/21 Girls' Championship and finished in 1st place with 5.5 points out of 6.  She was presented with a beautiful crystal, silver and ceramic trophy and cash prize for National Women's Rapidplay Champion.  She was also awarded the BWCA U/16 National title and trophy.    

 

This very well organised and run event featured coaching by WGM Jovanka Houska and WIM Heather Richards.  The tournament director was Peter Clousdale capably assisted by International Arbiters Lara Barnes and Alex MacFarlane.
