Hi David, do you have a rate for family rooms for 2 adults and 2 children?

A family room for 2 x adults and 2 x Children will be at £74.00 per room (including adult breakfast and the child charged for any meals taken in addition to this rate).

The website will be updated later.

I am probably being quite thick here (so what's new ;P ) but are the children's breakfasts included in the room price too?

You will probably guess what my next question is.......... how much are the children's breakfasts?

The juniors aren't allowed breakfast. The idea is to starve them so that the adult players have a chance of winning. ;P

Received the e-mail below this morning from the Mercure in Ayr, in response to my enquiries about breakfast prices for children. Needless to say I am working on this but thought I'd better post on the forum and on the congress website in case this causes an issue for any family groups booked, booking or about to book and who may wish to cancel, reconsider or book elsewhere.

The hotel website does state it's policy quite clearly though and I would hope anyone considering booking at the Mercure would have visited their website. This only effects triple and family rooms. Twin and double rooms are £74 per night, regardless of occupants age and include breakfast for both occupants.

I shall update if this situation changes.

Quote:Hi David,
Thanks for your email.
To clarify all children 12 and over are classed as adults when sharing a room.
Therefore, if you were to have two adults and two children over 12 the price for each night would be £151.00 bed and breakfast for 4 adults in the room.
In relation to children under 12 sharing a room, then their breakfast is priced at £6.95 per child. Apologies, for the error yesterday but free children’s breakfast only qualifies for children under 5.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,

To avoid any confusion or issues at a later date I have updated the accommodation page on the tournament website, as follows-

The venue hotel is the congress's preferred accommodation partner. Please consider staying at the venue hotel, if possible. Special rates have been made available for particpants in the tournament.

The Mercure Ayr are currently holding 20 rooms each night, any rooms not booked before the 24.03.13 will be released. If any further rooms are required after this date this will be subject to availability.

As all children 12 and over are classed as adults when sharing a room, those looking to book with children are advised to contact the hotel booking office on the number below for room rates.

Double or twin room at £74.00 per room per night (including breakfast)

Single room at £52.50 per room per room per night (including breakfast)

Triple rooms at £111.00 per room per night for 3 adults sharing (including breakfast)

All players can book direct with the booking office on 0844 815 9005 opt 1 quoting booking ref 4319318. This is the only method in which the hotel can guarantee the agreed rate will be offered. At this stage they are not able to set up an online booking option.

A one day junior event will take place during the congress weekend (May 24th to May 26th), most probably on the Saturday. Entry forms and further details will be available shortly on the congress website. This event is in addition to the junior event taking place in Prestwick on May 11th, as part of the GM Motwani and Ayrshire Allegro day.
