I thought so as well. But did you see the first comment below the article? One for the Andy's to deal with (if it had been made here).

No I didn't notice it but I went back to read it and Nigel Short's comment accusing arbiters
of wilful perversity. An arbiter's lot is not a happy one,but then !!?.

I publically admitted I messed up the final round pairings. Sad thing was the computer agreed with me which was frustrating.

Alex and Sean Hewitt disagree about this draw on the English Chess Forum. After initially querying the draw, Sean thinks that it is correct, Alex does't.

Bring all the players back and do the thing all over again.

And to stop all this moaning and groaning about the draw (everyone got a game, what's the beef?)
make it a massive all-play-all......in Grangemouth.

Or in Haddington

It was wrong and to be honest was a stupid mistake

Some good 2nd hand shops in Haddington. Beautiful wee place.
Picked up a few chess books e-bay bound for a few quids. (is quids the correct plural for quid?)

They have a shop there that sells large homemade lollies 25p each.

"It was wrong and to be honest was a stupid mistake."

Mistakes happen, nobody died, Alex Mac was there.
If he let a mistake slip through then it must have been an awkward and very plausible mistake.
99% of us would not have a clue about draws.
99% of us don't even know what went wrong and 99% of us don't really care.

Everyone got a game, no player came up to you after the draw and said,
"I don't have an opponent and the lad on Board 16 has been drawn to play himself."
That's a mistake. (Did that happened....?)

Blame it on Carlos and the live boards.
He won't know, he is too busy tinkering with these things to read Chess Forums,

Just say Carlos set up the live boards with the players he thought who would be playing each other.
Alex thought you gave Carlos the draw and you thought Alex gave Carlos the draw.

So that is that sorted......Let's move on.
