I was going to and lighten up this thread by trying to write something funny but this is as serious as it gets. I have known and respected both Ian and George for years and am very sorry about this and it cannot help neither Cumbernauld nor chess in whole. If there is anything I can do to help resolve the situation then please let me know. I know both Ian and George has Cumbernauld's best interests at heart and nobody can afford any ill feeling at all.
I'm sure we've all experienced moving aside for the stronger player. It happened to me when I had a 100% record and was asked to play a game at home when a stronger player turned up and I was dropped there and then . It turned out the stronger player could not play away games, however the team captain has a responsibility to the team as a whole and must follow the mandate given to him by the club..
