Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - D-Oswald - 14-10-2013 The membership secretary works fast Entrants now up at: http://chessscotland.com/tournament.php ... 0913091260 Top 14 players enter the 'Championship', next 10 in the 'Plate' and final 10 in the 'Lower League' 16 places remaining if I can count correctly ;P Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - D-Oswald - 16-10-2013 After careful consideration following the flow of entries, I have decided from feedback (on this and elsewhere) to reduce the entry fee for the Plate and Lower League sections to £55. Unfortunately this means that the prizefund in these sections is also reduced to balance the books. However, there are still three prizes (1st, 2nd and GP) in each 10 player section - not many events have 30% of participants winning a prize. Hopefully for those that were 'on the fence' or had reservations due to the cost, this will now represent good value for the 9 rounds, and support the event... Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - D-Oswald - 09-11-2013 I am absolutely delighted to announce that the ten players in the Premier event of the Winter Chess Festival have been confirmed. IM Vladimir Hamitevici (MOL) 2506 GM Colin McNab (SCO) 2453 FM Callum Kilpatrick (ENG) 2347 IM Joost Michielsen (NED) 2343 FM Iain Swan (SCO) 2263 FM Neil Berry (SCO) 2254 Calum MacQueen (SCO) 2246 Clement Sreeves (SCO) 2244 Adam Bremner (SCO) 2207 WIM Fiona Steil-Antoni (LUX) 2185 6.5/9 required for an IM norm. It will be tough but hopefully someone gets in with a chance! Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - WBuchanan - 09-11-2013 Really well done, David! Scottish chess activity seems to be rocking at the moment. Who's your arbiter, Andy H presumably? And him too. Also, good to see a Glasgow player among the wannabees. Are you doing zero tolerance in Rd 1? You'll have to give special dispensation to Ian, he has to find Edinburgh! Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - P Griffin - 09-11-2013 Didn't think you could do it, Congratulations. Afraid so, managed to persuade my manager that I really needed my first Christmas off work for 9 years! Just have to break it to Hastings that I am going to need our live boards this year, normally they borrow them. All being well will broadcast boards 1 - 8 each day as well. Really looking forward to this! Here's hoping we can get some IM norms in the field. Will do the actual calculation when the FRL updates at the end of the month Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - WBuchanan - 13-12-2013 The championship field is strong too, and looks wide open Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - D-Oswald - 17-12-2013 A reminder that the entry deadline is today... Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - andyburnett - 17-12-2013 I have been asked by a few people if there will be LIVE boards at the event? David/Andy? Re: Scottish Winter Chess Festival - Andy Howie - 17-12-2013 Hi Andy, That is certainly the intention. Full top event and top three of the second event I am on my own and have quite a lot of other things to do, so I apologise now if there are problems with it |
