Alan Jelfs Wrote:The Chief Grader not being automatically a member of the Management Board (or is it the Council?) means Dougie Bryson gets elected unanimously every year as an ordinary member, thus depriving another ordinary member of a place.

The Chief Grader is on Council every year:

Constitution says:

7 Office Bearers

7.2.1 Chief Grader, Webmaster, Membership Secretary, Scottish Chess Editor

8 Council

8.1.1 The Office Bearers elected at the AGM
... So does this mean that we've been electing one ordinary member too few for years?
I had thought that since the grader, membership officer etc are not elected posts then they dont automatically get on Council.

The paragraph here on eligibility for a Council place mentions "elected" office bearers

8.1.1 The Office Bearers elected at the AGM

If that interpretation is correct then Constitution should be amended on that point since you would assume these core tasks should be represented at Council.
And this is why we need to fix it!
Will reform of the Standards committee be part of the constitutional reform?
