The Scottish Deaf and Dumb Chess and Draughts Association

On September 26th, 1902, a special meeting was held at 49 Albany Street, Edinburgh for the formation of this association.The trustees of the Proposed Challenge Shield from Ayrshire, Lanarkshiree, Fifeshire and Midlothian were present:- Revd. Mr Hansell, Messrs Edwin Docherty, convener, Lanarkshire, James Paul, Ayrshire, James A. Shiach and John Robertson, Midlothian and Robert Smith, Fifeshire besides delegates Mr Jas. Mackinlay, Ayrshire and Mr T. Robertson, Fifeshire.

The original office-bearers were:-

President - James Paul (Ayrshire)

Secretary - James Shiach (Edinburgh)

Treasurer - Robert Tannahill (Glasgow)

In 1929 the title was changed to The Scottish Chess and Draughts Association of the Deaf (SCDAD).
