Jane (Jeanie) McDonald Rodger (J.P.)

12 November 1874, Glasgow - 7 June 1939, Rutherglen

Born Jane McDonald Young. Married Daniel Lusk Rodger (1852-1930) in 1898.

Member of the Glasgow Ladies' Chess Club.

In 1938 Mrs Rodger hosted world champions Alekhine and Miss Menchik at her home - Mount Pleasant, Mill Street - in Rutherglen during their (separate) visits to Glasgow for simultaneous displays.

Mrs Rodger - as 'JMR' - was a solver of problems in the Glasgow Herald chess column.
