James Raeburn

Died: March 1989, Cheshire

From Scottish Chess No. 110, p 24: It is with much regret that we report the death of Mr James Raeburn at the age of 62 in Cheshire towards the end of March. Jimmy was an active member of the Glasgow Polytechnic Chess Club from 1952 until 1974 when his health then deteriorated. During this period he was the President of the Club on several occasions and Secretary from 1960-1965. He was also an ex-President of the Glasgow Chess League. One of his greatest pleasures was being President in 1957 when Polytechnic won the Richardson Cup. His many friends in Scottish chess will be saddened to learn of his death and would wish to offer their condolences to his wife, Margaret and their family.
