International Grandmaster title awarded 1992.

Scottish Champion 1983, 1991, 1993 and 1995.

Represented Scotland in 17 Olympiads between 1980 and 2014.

1st in Hallsberg (Sweden) International Junior Tournament 1979-80 with 7½/9.

1st in the 1992 Commonwealth Championship held in Malaysia.
1. McNab 6½ (tie-break), ahead of Conquest, Suba, Miles and Watson all with the same score. The field included six English GMs and six GMs from India.

Shared 2nd-5th places in the 1996 Commonwealth Championship in Calcutta with 7/10, a half point behind the winner.

1st in the Iskle of Man International 1993 with 7/9.

British Chess Problem Solving Champion 2012 and 2013.
